This Time By Kirk Franklin Ft. GloRilla
Twenty-time Grammy-winning gospel artist Kirk Franklin teams up with Memphis rapper GloRilla on “This Time,” released on September 25, 2026, as part of the lead-up to Franklin’s upcoming album I Am What I Am.
“This Time” centres on perseverance, faith, and getting through difficult seasons with the belief that better days are ahead. The song also incorporates elements of Mandrill’s “Children of the Sun,” connecting Franklin’s gospel approach with a musical reference familiar from Southern hip-hop.
GloRilla brings her rap delivery to the collaboration, adding a contemporary hip-hop perspective to Kirk Franklin’s gospel setting. The pairing is not their first: they previously worked together on “Rain Down on Me,” which appeared on GloRilla’s GLORIOUS and later won the Dr. Bobby Jones Best Gospel/Inspirational Award at the 2025 BET Awards.
“This Time” stands out for the way it connects gospel, hip-hop, faith, and perseverance without losing sight of its central message. It is a strong choice for listeners who enjoy contemporary gospel with a crossover edge, so make sure to add it to your playlist.
